CDT Code for Dental Fluoride Varnish

Topical application of Fluoride Varnish is indicated for teeth sensitivity that does not resolve with an over the counter desensitizing dentifrice. Fluoride varnish is covered for members age 6 months to 20 years old. Fluoride varnish is made with fluoride, a mineral that can strengthen tooth enamel (outer coating on teeth).  It is painted on the top and sides of each tootha. Sticky in nature but hardens once it comes in contact with the saliva.
