Diagnostic cast act as a supplement to the oral examination, which is an accurate replication of anatomic form of maxillary and mandibular dental arch. They are majorly used in educating patients about their dental needs and the corresponding treatment plan.

The purposes of obtaining diagnostic casts are:

  • To permit a study of the growth and development of the primary and mixed dentitions through time.
